We understand that you may have questions or concerns regarding the IPL process, so below are some of the answers to our most frequently asked questions:
What is IPL?
Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) is a revolutionary treatment for a range of conditions, including freckles, birthmarks and sun spots. It is also the most highly effective permanent hair removal treatment the world has ever seen.
How does Intense Pulsed Light Work?
We beam controlled flashes of intense light onto your skin. The light converts to heat in the melanin and blood in your skin and this heat destroys the hair follicle or pigment lesion without damaging your skin.
What should I expect during an IPL treatment?
You will have an initial consultation with one of our fully qualified beauty therapists who will assess the particular area and provide suggestions and feedback.
They will then move the IPL machine over your skin and you will feel a slight sting (like being snapped with an elastic band) as each pulse is beamed from the machine.
What should I do after my treatment?
Hair Removal: Hair growth/stubble will still appear for 1-2 weeks as the hair follicle dies. You are able to shave or cut your hair during this period.
Pigment Lesion (sun spot, birthmark e.t.c): Do not pick or scratch the dark spot that appears in the affected area. It will drop off after 7-14 days.
Vascular Lesion: Do not be concerned if the affected area is flushed or swollen. The vein will fully or partially fade in 10-14 days and and swelling or redness will disappear.
IMPORTANT: We highly recommend the use of an SPF 30+ sunscreen and mineral make up be used after the treatment to avoid any irritation of the skin.
